Data Center Takes a Licking and Keeps On Ticking
One of the services we offer our clients is hosting of their Microsoft Dynamics and Sage ERP environments. Our servers are co-located in a TYPE-II SSAE 16-compliant data center in Portland, Oregon.
As you may have heard, a significant area of downtown Portland and the Pearl District experienced an extended power outage beginning Monday May 22, 2017 through Tuesday May 23. Over 2,000 customers lost power during the outage. Our data center facility is located in the area affected by the power outage but – thanks to redundant backup power systems – the data center was never without power.

We are extremely pleased to report that this more than 30-hour power outage was managed without any affect on our host servers, disk arrays and other equipment. At the onset of the power outage, power requirements were seamlessly transitioned to the Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS) and then to the dedicated, on-site generators. Power was maintained for the duration of the outage by the generators.
We actively monitor our host servers as well as our client’s virtual servers. We are proud to say that none of our hosting customers were even aware there had been a power outage or transition to redundant backup power systems. The entire process was managed seamlessly and transparently.
We feel fortunate with our choice of data center facility operator; Portland-based Atmosera. Their expert design, world-class operating procedures and thorough, on-going testing of data center backup systems ensure exceptional performance, stability and reliability. Atmosera is also a long-time client of The ERP Group. This relationship provides a vital new take on the concept,
Our client’s success is our success.
